Our verdict

9/10

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Players: 1
  • Playtime: 2–3 h

Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping is a short, cosy detective game and a standalone sequel to The Secret Salami. You play Eugene McQuacklin, a gloomy, divorced, bread-obsessed duck investigating a supposed haunting at a campsite with a new partner in tow. You explore, talk to suspects and inspect evidence to unlock keywords, then drop those words into fill-in-the-blank deductions. It suits anyone wanting a funny, low-stress mystery for a single evening.

Players love the puns, the fully voiced cast and the soundtrack, and several think it improves on the first game with a steadier tone, more intuitive deductions and a stronger ending. You do not need to have played the original. Reviewers enjoy the moments where a deduction clicks, and the cliffhanger ending has them eager for the next case.

The caveats are length and challenge: most finish in under three hours, and many call it easy, with the mystery itself a bit slight. It also changes little from the first game. Strongly recommended for fans of light comedy mysteries, ideally on sale; skip it if you want a demanding whodunnit.

Pros

  • Fill-in-the-blank deductions built from keywords you uncover
  • Pun-heavy writing and a fully voiced cast of odd suspects
  • Standalone campsite case that needs no prior game

Cons

  • Finished in under three hours by most players
  • Easy deductions and a slight central mystery
  • Barely changes the formula from The Secret Salami
