Our verdict

7.5/10

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Players: 1
  • Playtime: 3–6 h

A Night at Moka Efti is a free isometric detective adventure set in the Berlin nightclub from the TV series Babylon Berlin. You play journalist Gabriele Miersch, who is hypnotised to relive one night at the club, talking to guests, gathering clues and rebuilding her memories. It suits solo players who like story-heavy mysteries more than hard puzzles, and you do not need to know the show.

All 27 Steam reviews are positive. Many players compare it to a lighter Disco Elysium: a similar text sidebar and look, but no stats or dice, so it plays like a classic point-and-click. Reviewers praise the period atmosphere, the music, the art and the German voice acting with subtitles. Early on you pick one of three paths, and seeing the full ending means finishing all three.

The caveats are small. The puzzles are basic, the story can feel confusing, and a few players thought the final act ends too fast. A single path takes around two to three hours, and completing all three takes longer. Since it costs nothing, it is an easy pick for anyone who likes noir mysteries.

Pros

  • Hypnosis framing turns one night at the club into a memory puzzle
  • Strong 1920s Berlin mood, music and German voice acting
  • Three paths with different endings, and it is free

Cons

  • Light puzzles; it is mostly clue gathering and dialogue
  • The story can feel convoluted and the last act feels rushed
